Akita 秋田県 To Nepal

They say that the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now. Taking that dictum to heart a Japanese Maple was planted a few days ago in our garden. I am not sure if we will get the bright colours in the autumn here in Kathmandu but it is a start.

This maple was brought from Japan by the family of Ogawa san of Akita (秋田県) specially for me. She has been living in a village in Nepal since the 1970's and slowly uplifting that village. That is truly remarkable given how many Nepalis like to leave this country and live overseas. Surely such people are truer and better citizens of Nepal than those who have left but yet clamour to get dual citizenship.
